Description

Pueraria thomsonii Benth belongs to the perennial leguminous plants, and it is an important Chinese medicinal herb that is mainly distributed in East Asian countries, such as China and Japan. The dried roots of P. thomsonii were first described in the Shengnong Bencao Jing as a pungent diaphoretic drug, which could be used to treat influenza, body stiffness, and other illnesses. The main active isoflavones in P. thomsonii are puerarin and daidzein, which accumulates in roots for Pueraria plants.
